The Austin Kite Festival has long been a colorful tradition in Austin, Texas since it began in 1929. This much-awaited yearly event was spearheaded by the The Exchange Club, which is volunteer group who undertake non-profit activities that would help child abuse victims. This year, the Austin Kite Festival will be held today (March 1)from 10 AM to 5 PM. A much-awaited Kite Competition will kick off at 1 PM and the mass kite ascension is scheduled at 3 PM.
As it is held in Zilker Park, Austin Kite Festival is also known as the Zilker Kite Festival. Yet, this year there is an encumbrance at Zilker Park because a construction is on-going in that area. It is announced that there are free parking in State Parking Garage E (1604 E. Colorado Street) and the Tony Burger Activity Center (3200 Jones Road). What's great too is that admission is absolutely free in the Austin Kite Festival.
