Matthew Whelan 48 Hr Full Body Tattoo Challenge

A TATTOO-obsessed Midlander (from Stetchford, Birmingham)is planning an eye-watering world record session under the needle – to cover his ENTIRE BODY in ink.

Determined Matthew Whelan, 31, admits he is risking his health to complete the dangerous 48-hour challenge.

He is already known to friends as Body Art because of his multiple tattoos –and has even legally changed his name to King of Inkland.
Now unemployed Matthew is bidding to break the world endurance record by suffering an excruciating TWO DAYS of tattooing to cover his whole body.

"My body is a temple, and these are the decorations,".

"I know it’s a risk to take on this much tattooing in one go, it’s a huge amount of stress to put on your body."

"There is a heart attack risk, and there’s a possibility of blood poisoning. It’s like any endurance event, there are risks and rewards."

"At the moment I’m interviewing tattoo artists to find someone I can trust for the world record bid next month."

The Brummie first went under the needle at the age of 16. Now he has had so much ink on his body that he will have to undergo laser removal treatments to make room for new artwork.

"I would class myself as only having one tattoo, I have got one body and all the designs are all part of the same piece of art," he said.

And the "King" gets a strong reaction to his extraordinary appearance when he is out and about.

"I see it as extreme art, it provokes people, they see you and they go Whoa!," he said.

"That’s one of the reasons I’m taking on this record, I want to keep pushing boundaries."

"There’s no guarantee that I’ll succeed, the last person to try and do it went into extreme shock after just 17 hours. I’ve had long sessions before, up to 14 hours, but this is unknown territory and obviously very dangerous."

Tattooing may be a lifestyle choice, but the "King" says his love of ink has led to discrimination in the job market.

"Getting work has been a problem, there is a lot of discrimination and most places have a very strict dress code," he said.

"My family have mixed reactions. My dad hates tattoos, but my sister loves them."

"Mostly they don’t really understand why I’ve done this to my body, they think I’ve ruined myself."

"My gran and some of the others say to me, ‘you used to be good looking and now you’ve ruined it."

"I don’t see it that way. As far as I’m concerned, my body is a work of art."

Face Tattoos are not for everyone

I don't understand what's wrong with some people this days. They seem not to get that a face tattoo simply don't go with everyone and they ignored the fact that a tattoo must look appealing to themselves (seriously) and that it should be made appealing for those who are not into tattoos at all.

Gucci Mane recently got an ice cream cone stamped on his face and now Young LA got a "pink" duck tattooed on his. Those tattoos look stoopid and they're not easy on the eyes and people simply don't get it. There's other ways to get noticed (if that's the case), than simply stamping something on the face, other people will do eventually and it won't be interesting anymore.

Do they really have a meaning or someone is simply trying to star a trend? Is it a war or simply decoration of the body? What about the soul and the true meaning of the design chosen.

T-Pain "Like" Tattoo

T-Pain recently got some fresh Ink, he decided to go for a Facebook "Like" Tattoo (actually it looks better than having an Ice Cream Cone stamped on the face).

Lately some Celebrities have been going from "underground" to "pop" when it comes to their tattoo. To each its own, if you like it then it is your problem the same way if you regret it will be your problem as well.

Each person got their own personal reasons to choose a design therefore it shouldn't be anyone's business but at the same time freedom of speech allows anyone to agree or disagree on anything.
I would've preferred Gucci's Ice Cream Cone to be slightly smaller and perhaps what make it look a bit hideous might be the size of such Ice Cream cone or perhaps the location, people are used to see tiny Tattoos on the face.

He got his penis Tattooed and won a car.

A German man won a brand new $32,000 Mini Cooper by having the word "MINI" tattooed on his penis during a broadcast. Organizers said Andreas Muller, 39, of Saxony-Anhalt, won the radio station contest by coming up with the wildest Mini-related stunt to earn the vehicle, The Austrian Times reported Wednesday. Muller had his sex organ tattooed during a live broadcast, and listeners heard his pained exclamations during the process. "Once I'm sitting in the car, it won't matter anymore. Then the pain will be gone and it'll be alright," he said.

A 16 Inch Penis

This is the kind of incident no one wish to go thru. Trusting an artist and ending up with a huge penis tattooed on. Something like this happens often, not only when it comes to going for a bootleg tattoo. For some reason unprofessional artists tend to mess with their customers in such a messed up way. It is unacceptable to see this kind of things happening and unfortunately affects those who take their job seriously while others get a kick out of it. I believe if an artist does not want to perfom their duties or simply don't wish to tattoo someone then they simply can refuse to do it instead of doing some screwed up job especially when they have a full knowledge of their profession.

***From a news source: A 21-year-old Australian man has been charged with assault after allegedly tattooing an image of a penis on his friend's back, according to the Courier Mail.
The 25-year-old victim was visiting the amateur tattoo artist at the man's home last week when he was talked into getting a tattoo, according to the paper.

The man wanted a yin and yang symbol tattooed on his back, but allegedly got a 16-inch tattoo of a penis with an obscene gesture instead.
Australian authorities said the incident followed an argument between the two.

The victim also says he was punched and thrown out of the man's house.
The 21-year-old tattoo artist has been charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and is due to appear in court next month.
