Mel Gibson decided not to contest the charges today after being charged with a misdemeanor for an attack on his former partner, Russia's Oksana Grigorieva, and benefited from a settlement by the left on unsupervised probation for a period of three years.
According to local media reports, the actor, who seems to end the ordeal and lived for months, must complete a counseling course of 52 weeks to control their anger attacks as part of the agreement accepted by the judge in the county of Los Stephanie Sautner Angeles.
Simone Shay, a member of the prosecution, explained that they had accepted the settlement to "minimize the trauma and the impact of any procedure for the victim and witnesses."
Blair Berk, defense counsel for Gibson, said he agreed with the deal "because it is in the best interest of their children."
A hypothetical trial probably would have required the presence of Grigorieva and her youngest daughter, Lucia, as a result of the relationship with Gibson to testify as witnesses related to the incident.
Likewise, Gibson must complete a total of 16 hours of community service with the organization "Mending Kids" and pay fines totaling $ 580.
The Detectives also investigated whether Grigorieva tried to blackmail the actor with the recording and subsequent publication of his threats, but ultimately no charges were filed.
Grigorieva denounced Gibson's alleged assault at his home in Malibu in January 2010. The actor admitted having slapped to avoid being hurt his daughter Lucia as they argued.
"I hit it once with an open hand in an attempt to return to reality," the actor said in his affidavit. "It's slapped hard. Just trying to stop screaming and Lucia move from one side to the other," he said.
