Just one day after it was reported that Island Def Jam chairman Antonio "L.A." Reid was close to joining the cast of Simon Cowell's new FOX singing competition 'The X Factor,' another big name is
being thrown into the mix.
Reportedly, singer Enrique Iglesias has been approached with an offer to host the American version of 'The X Factor'.
'The X Factor' UK is the creation of former 'American Idol' judge Simon Cowell, who also performs double-duty as a judge on the hit show. The show, which just wrapped its seventh season, is responsible for launching the career of pop superstar Leona Lewis.
Iglesias would be sitting alongside Cowell, who has already confirmed that he will be serving jury duty on the newest installment of his talent franchise. The 35-year-old Spaniard is known for melting hearts with that smoldering gaze and sultry vocals -- he may just make contestants fall apart with nerves. At the very least, Iglesias would bring some heat to an otherwise stone-cold judges' table. It would be the singer's first hosting gig.
Cowell is the only confirmed judge thus far. How he'll flesh out his table with three more judges has been a hot topic lately. Cowell recently told 'Access Hollywood Live' he was considering George Michael, Nicole Scherzinger, Mariah Carey and former 'American Idol' co-judge Paula Abdul. He also said that Elton John is absolutely not in the running -- "He's so grumpy nowadays. He'd just be moaning the whole time," Cowell said.
The 'The X Factor' America will premier on Fox in this Fall.
